WHAT IS IFOMC?

This conference is the main international forum for working on the critical issues of fisheries observer programs, new surveillance technologies, and other approaches to fishery-dependent data collection and analysis. Since 1998, this series of conferences has been the only one of its kind to specifically address the many issues related to fisheries monitoring programs.

Develop, promote and improve effective fisheries monitoring programs to ensure sustainable management of resources in all oceans of the world.

Vission

Improve fisheries monitoring programs around the world by exchanging practices and developing new data collection and analysis methods and providing a forum for dialogue between fisheries watchers and those who rely on fisheries data they collect.

Objectives

Improve the quality of monitoring data of the fisheries through the exchange of the same.

Support the development of international standards and improve information and safety for sea-fishing observers.

Support the development of professional observation of fishing practices on an international basis.

Improve the use and accessibility of monitoring data to support sustainable resource management.
